System architecture
Five layers, one continuous loop
The Sentinel Artificial Safety Intelligence Model (SASI™) is constructed as a multi-layered intelligence architecture. Each layer performs a distinct and disciplined function. Together they transform raw operational conditions into controlled, leadership-driven execution outcomes.
Architecture
The five layers
What each layer does is public. How each layer does it is proprietary to Sentinel Safety Group and is shared with qualified parties under NDA.
Data Acquisition
Captures the critical signals that define the true state of an operation, across five signal domains:
- Work execution signals. Job hazard analyses, permit type and complexity, simultaneous operations, task criticality.
- Human performance signals. Fatigue, leadership engagement, observation quality, worker competency.
- Environmental and external signals. Weather, environmental thresholds, time-of-day risk.
- System integrity signals. Inspection failures, overdue corrective actions, audit findings.
- Operational pressure signals. Schedule compression, production pressure, workforce shortages, concurrent high-risk scopes. The primary differentiator.
Data Normalization
Terminology alignment, data cleansing, structured classification, and preparation for analysis. Fragmented inputs from many contractors, sites, and systems become one coherent structure. Proprietary in design and the primary driver of accuracy downstream.
Risk Intelligence Engine
Multi-variable risk modeling, pattern recognition, trend analysis, and convergence detection. This is the transition point from data processing to operational intelligence, and where the Sentinel Risk Index is produced.
Intelligence Delivery
SASI™ intelligence is delivered through the platform's own purpose-built application, not a third-party business intelligence tool. Role-appropriate dashboards render the Sentinel Risk Index scorecard, an operational pressure view, trend and cascade views, and a short-horizon risk forecast. Alerts and recommended actions are generated natively. Branded reports come from the platform's own export pipeline.
Leadership Integration
Intelligence is embedded into daily operational and safety meetings, weekly leadership reviews, and executive decision processes. Structured escalation routes alerts to the appropriate leadership level, and intervention confirmation creates an auditable record of response and closure. This is where SASI™ transitions from a system of intelligence to a system of control.
Proprietary risk scoring
The Sentinel Risk Index
The Sentinel Risk Index is the proprietary scoring core of SASI™: a multi-variable model, engineered by HSE professionals, that produces a single real-time risk score leadership can act on immediately. Every score maps to a defined risk band with a prescribed leadership response and escalation path, which removes ambiguity from safety decision-making.
What the index considers, at category level:
- Operational pressure and schedule-driven risk
- Human performance and fatigue indicators
- Environmental and site-specific stress conditions
- Contractor risk and multi-party exposure
- Leadership presence and control effectiveness
- System integrity and control deterioration
How the index is calculated, which variables it weighs, how they interact, and how the model is calibrated are trade secrets of Sentinel Safety Group, LLC. They are not described on any public surface.
The Pressure Score
The Pressure Score is the component of SASI™ that models operational pressure as a scored risk condition. It captures the relationship between schedule compression, production targets, workforce shortages, and simultaneous operations, and converts that pressure into a measurable, trackable input to the Sentinel Risk Index.
This is not a feature. It is an architectural decision that reflects how incidents actually originate in high-hazard industrial environments.
Lorenz lives inside SASI™
The Lorenz component decides how far ahead a forecast can be trusted, and suppresses publication of forecasts beyond the calibrated horizon. Read about Lorenz.
Intelligence delivery
Engineered for the decision-maker
Role-specific dashboards
Executive, site, work front, and contractor views. Live risk scores, trend analysis, and predictive risk windows in real time.
Alerts and escalation
Alert delivery when scores cross defined bands, routed to the leadership level that owns the response.
Intervention confirmation
Structured workflows document leadership response, corrective action, and closure, creating an auditable intelligence record.
Briefings and reports
Scheduled and on-demand intelligence for site leadership, safety teams, and executive review. Formatted for decisions, not for archiving.
Where SASI™ stands today
Substantially built. Pre-commercial. Deliberate.
The scoring engines, the normalization layer, the platform application, and the delivery surface are built and under test as a self-contained system engineered by Sentinel.
SASI™ is preparing for controlled pilot deployment with a limited number of qualified industrial operations. Sentinel does not publish client names or performance claims it has not earned in the field.
We do not market predictions the mathematics says we cannot keep. We sell the window the math says is real, and govern execution inside it.
